We’ve rebranded!

Big news, burger fans. Changz Canteen will officially be re-opening as Smoke & Pickles on 29th October 2018.

In Dec 2015, Changz Canteen launched with a small budget and a bric-a-brac approach, starting with only four items on the menu, minimal equipment and minimal furniture. Over the past 4 years the menu has grown, the equipment multiplied and the restaurant has developed into one of Melbourne’s favourite burger restaurants.

There has been a cycle of constant change and improvement over the years, and the biggest of them all was definitely this: a rebrand from ‘Changz Canteen’ to ‘Smoke & Pickles’.

Smoke & Pickles is designed to fill a gap in the market – somewhere between local takeaway burger restaurant and casual modern Australian eatery, bringing the two together with a tight menu and fun dine-in experience. That means fresh local produce, independent beers and low intervention wines.

Smoke is injected into the menu in a subtle fashion with smoked beetroot & crispy kale, house cured pastrami with fresh horseradish and Changz’ ever-reliable smoked jalapeno poppers.

All of our pickles are prepared fresh in house with seasonal and local produce playing a leading role in rotating specials.
